Hi, I'm Elaine!

As well as being a full-time mum, I have years of experience working with children. As a dance teacher, I ran my own business and dance studio for 25 years.

I have a full Certificate in Childminding Practice. I am registered with the Care Inspectorate, and I’m a member of SCMA – the Scottish Childminding Association. I have a full disclosure check, full public liability insurance cover and I'm registered with the Information Commissioners Office. I have a full, clean UK driving licence and my car fully insured for transporting children with a range of car seats to suit all ages.

I have a BA hons degree in Dance Art in the Community, as well as a teaching diploma in Dance with the BATD, of which I’ve been a fellow member for 25 years.

I attend regular training courses and have a current Paediatric First Aid certificate (including epi-pen training) and a Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (Food Hygiene). I have a Child Protection Training certificate and Fire Safety certificate. I am committed to continuing my training and development and shall be attending Scottish Child Minding Association workshops as and when they become available. All training is undertaken in my own time and does not disrupt the service.

I have taken a Prevention of Covid course, and have had a Covid Risk Assessment done, which is detailed in my Covid Policies and Procedures.

You may wonder why I wanted to be a childminder. I’ve always enjoyed working with children through my Dance School over the past 25 years, and have always enjoyed a great connection with my students, alongside a passion for seeing children grow and develop new skills.

I love arts and crafts, and base a lot of my planning around the children making something to either take home each week or to try something new. I also love the outdoors and love to explore with the children.

Having been a working mother myself, I understand the importance of making sure your child is in a safe, loving and welcoming environment - that’s why I will make sure all parties involved feel comfortable. I feel communication from myself and the parents plays a huge part in a child’s happiness, and I will communicate with parents using log books, diaries and photos of our activities.

If you wish to book your child into my care you will receive a welcome booklet and a link to download my Procedures and Policies at your first visit.
